Dear Parishioners and Friends of St. Matthew’ s:
For long-time parishioners, newcomers or anyone returning to church, many opportunities await for worship, learning, fellowship and fun this fall.
A committee, along with Bishop Tom Corston, has been faithfully searching for a full-time Rector for the Cathedral. As the search continues, we are happy to announce that Bishop Eddie Marsh has agreed to return to the Cathedral as our interim Rector for the winter starting November 1, 2010. Come and welcome Bishop Eddie and his lovely wife Emma on November 7th, their first Sunday back with us! Our sincerest thanks to The Rev. Lyn Fisher for her ministry with us this past summer and The Rev. Deirdre Roach for taking Sunday services during the month of October.
St. Matthew’ s offers ministry to our parishioners and the community of Timmins. Sunday worship services are held at 8:30am and 10:30am with Church School at the 10:30am service. Coffee, tea and fellowship in the Parish Hall follow the 10:30am service. The Sunday Bible Study Group and Monday Youth Group continue to be held at the Hares’ residence and new members are always welcome. A newly formed group, Friendly Times, meets in the Parish Hall the first Tuesday of each month at 1pm. Join them for fun and fellowship at their next meeting on November 2nd.
On Wednesday November 3rd at 7:30pm, Deborah Lonergan-Freake and Lisa BrantFrancis will be ordained to the priesthood at the Cathedral. At the same service, our new Diocesan Chancellor, Mr. Bryan Finlay, QC, of Toronto will be installed as will The Rev. C.J. Adams as the Interim Regional Dean of Cochrane. Please support them by attending the service and keeping them in your prayers.
This year the Poinsettia Tea and Bake Sale, featuring a bake table, a silent auction and door prize, will be held on Saturday November 20th from 10:30am to 1:30pm. Luncheon tickets can be purchased for $6.00.
St. Matthew’ s is struggling with its finances and is currently in a deficit position. Enclosed is an envelope and we ask that you prayerfully consider making a donation which will enable us to move forward in our work for the Lord.
Please keep St. Matthew’ s in your daily prayers as we work together to ensure that the ministry and mission of the Parish continues.
Yours in Christ,
Susanne Mavor Rector’ s Warden
